For well over 20-years, Scott Ellwood was a fixture among the Weiser Valley Round-Up Committee members. He served as both President and Vice President through the years, and was the resident “poster hanger”, distributing WVR advertising posters throughout the area. Every July, Scott could always be found during the annual rodeo in the back pens sorting roping cattle with precision.
On November 3, 2021, the world lost a wonderful person when Scott Ray Ellwood past away at home and was called to heaven at the age of 49.
Scott was a native Weiserite and was a 1990 graduate of Weiser High School. After studying beef production at the University of Idaho for a time, he returned to Weiser and worked as a large animal Veterinary Technician for 27-years.
Scott was passionate about wild mustangs and rescued and trained several mustangs of his own. Scott was also an active outdoorsman and loved spending time with his family.
Scott Ellwood was an integral part of the Weiser Valley Round-Up Association and left empty boots that will be exceedingly hard to fill.
Although Scott is no longer with us here on earth, he will always remain in our hearts and memories.
As an added tribute to our good friend, the Weiser Valley Round-up Association has begun the Scott Ellwood Memorial Scholarship Fund, and awarded the first Weiser High School recipient in Spring 2023.
If you would like to make a donation to the Scott Ellwood Scholarship Fund, please call Zane Davis at 208-880-5167 or mail donations to P.O. Box 789 Weiser, ID 83672.
Quinci will be attending Lewis and Clark State College in the Fall of 2023, where she will study nursing. Quinci plans to work in the hospital setting as a floor nurse and operating room nurse, eventually hoping to become a traveling nurse.
